Hello, my name is Kathi Sherman. I am happy to be a member of the Board of Trustees for Shaffer School. I have lived in the Susanville area since 1978. My husband of 30 years and I have raised three children in this area, all of which attended Shaffer School. I am now a full time College and Career Counselor, but have worked in a variety of jobs in education since 1994, including 5 years at Shaffer School as a Teacher’s Aide and a Substitute Teacher. I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling and hold a California. I love working with children and I am pleased to be on the Board at Shaffer School as we strive to make our school a great place to learn.
(Board Meeting Minutes are available for review in the Shaffer School District Office)
Board meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:00p.m. in the Board Room #12. Prior Board Meeting Minutes and Agendas are available by contacting the Shaffer Elementary School Office.
My name is Jeff Canadas. I am originally from Carmel Valley, CA. I left there at the age of 19 and joined the army where I served 12 years active duty and 10 years in the reserves as an engineer. I retired as a First Sergeant. I am employed at High Desert State Prison as Chief Engineer and I have worked there for the past 19 years.
Educationally I have graduated and have degrees from Hartnell College, University of New York Regents, and Truckee Meadows College.
I have a son attending Lassen Community College, a daughter who graduated from Shaffer School last year and is now attending Lassen High School, and my youngest daughter who is in 8th grade at Shaffer School this year. Therefore, I am personally vested in the schools in the Susanville area.
My wish for Shaffer School is to have a school that parents and students are proud of. I want our school to be known for excellence in academics, social skills, and athletics. We have a GREAT group of students and I want them to have every opportunity to be able to succeed.
